What is an Orthodontics?

Dentistry Services

Orthodontics is a branch of Dentistry that is responsible for studying, preventing, diagnosing, treating and therefore correcting the bad position of the teeth and maxillary bones. With this they correct dental arches, gaps and crowding. The incorrect position of the teeth and an incorrect bite can cause, beyond aesthetics, headaches, muscle pain in the jaw, and poor oral hygiene, among others.

Conditions that Orthodontics can correct:

  • Diastemas: This is the excessive space between the teeth .
  • Crowded and/or crooked teeth .
  • Overbite: When we have the upper teeth that exceed the lower ones.
  • Crossbite: When one or more upper teeth occlude the lower ones.
  • Open bite: When biting there is space between the upper and lower teeth.

More than 70 professionals at your service.

Types of Orthodontics

Invisible Orthodontics: These splints are made to your needs and with a transparent plastic material. This is why we call them invisible. You can carry it comfortably and remove it at mealtime. Its advanced material allows not only greater aesthetics and comfort, but also faster treatment with 100% predictable results.

Metallic orthodontics: This has been the conventional orthodontic treatment for many years. They are placed on the outside of the teeth. Its garters and metal can be of different colors, which is usually pleasant for patients.

Aesthetic orthodontics: Aesthetic orthodontics is very similar to the traditional one, but with brackets made of different materials that, unlike those made of metal, are hardly visible and are highly discreet, since they have unbeatable transparency.

Children’s Orthopedics: For the little ones at home we have different types of appliances and in full color. Treatments differ depending on age.

Steps

Orthodontics has three significant steps.

The first step is the placement of the appliances. These can be fixed, which we call brackets, or they can be invisible aligners (invisible orthodontics).

The second step is the process in which we adjust them periodically.

The third step is the placement of the retainers that can be fixed or removable. These are the ones in charge of keeping the teeth in their position after Orthodontics.

Benefits

Orthodontics has multiple benefits:

  • Healthy teeth and gums.
  • Aligned teeth and the smile you want.
  • Less wear on dental pieces.
  • Improves bite and therefore headaches and jaw pain.
